The government has banned Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) for its involvement in several killings, bombings, and other terror activities during its violent campaign for "secession of Punjab".

Facts

  • The Home Ministry has banned KLF from joining it after investigating the terrorist incidents in Punjab in the last few years.
  • The Union Home Ministry has declared the Khalistan Liberation Force as a terrorist organization under Section 35 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
  • Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) is the 40th organization to be banned under the Unlawful Activities Restrict Act (UAPA).
  • The organization was formed in 1986 with the intention of making Punjab a separate nation Khalistan through violence. The Khalistan movement has continued for many years in many countries including the United States. The purpose of this organization was that in any way, Punjab should be separated from India.
