Traffic Assistant is in-charge of traffic signals and works in shifts depending upon the movement and management of trains.

There is a 45-days training period after selection.

Career Path – Traffic Assistant is promoted to the post of Senior Traffic Assistant.

• Job Profile & Salary of Goods Guard

Goods Guard coordinates with the Station Master regarding the arrival & departure of a goods train. He basically has to manage the running of a goods train and the condition of the train.

As there is no fixed work-time, hence the post requires high flexibility.

Salary – Rs.29200 (Initial Pay)

Perks – Dearness Allowance (DA) + House Rent Allowance (HRA) + Transport Allowance (TA) + Running Allowance.

Career Path – There are 2 career paths for a goods guard:

1. Goods Guard -> Passenger Guard -> Express Guard

Mainly he gets posted in Ticket Booking Offices and issues tickets to passengers, books luggage and supervises their loading & unloading.

He is also sometimes given charge of a small station.

For this job profile a candidate is required to have good typing efficiency. He works in various departments and manages junior clerks there.

• Job Profile & Salary of Junior Account Assistant cum Typist

A Commercial Apprentice is a mid-level multi-skilled supervisor who has to maintain balance between the field staff and people in the higher level of bureaucracy.

There is a 2-year training period of Commercial Apprentice.

Career Path – Is based on Departmental Examination.

Station Master is the in-charge of the station and is responsible for timely and smooth arrival/departure of the trains.

He is the point of contact at the railway station and makes sure that passengers are provided with all the basic amenities in the railway station.
