State gets Rs. 6,600-crore defence projects: -

Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on September 19 said that Andhra Pradesh had several key defence and defence-related projects with an investment outlay of Rs.6,600 crore, including Bharat Electronics Limited’s Advanced Night Vision Products factory at Nimmaluru in Krishna district. Accompanied by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu laid the foundation stone for the BEL unit, which would be commissioned by March 2018. The Rs.300-crore project is expected to provide nearly 2,000 jobs and this would be the largest BEL unit in the country once it is commissioned. “Missile Launch Test Facility project at Nagayalanka, Naval Air Station at Bobbili, National Open Air Range to be developed in 2,900 acres in Kurnool, Defence Systems Integration Complex at Anantapur are a few defence and defence-related projects which are being developed in Andhra Pradesh,” the Minister said.
